Kim F. Hall: During the nineteenth century, when family members might move from home and never return, signature or friendship quilts became cherished mementos. This modern take on the "friendship" quilt tradition by Kim and Vera honors Professor Emerita Quandra Prettyman's legacy at Barnard College. The American Studies faculty designed a block and the signatures were gathered during the fifteenth anniversary of Africana Studies at the College.
