Librarian Qualifications

FSCJ librarians are faculty members who meet the qualifications established by the College for professional librarianship. Full-time faculty librarians are covered by the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement and are subject to the rights and responsibilities established for faculty employees. Part-time librarians serve as adjunct faculty and are subject to the policies and procedures governing adjunct instructional personnel.

Faculty librarians possess graduate-level preparation in library and information science or related fields and engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of professional practices, technologies, instructional methods, and emerging trends in higher education.

Library Support Staff

Library support staff play an essential role in providing quality services to students, faculty, and staff. Staff responsibilities may include circulation services, customer service, technology assistance, collection maintenance, resource processing, and operational support.

Ongoing training and professional development are provided to ensure staff remain knowledgeable about Library resources, systems, procedures, and services.

Student Assistants

Student assistants contribute to Library operations by supporting service areas under the supervision of Library faculty and staff. Student assistants receive appropriate training and guidance related to their assigned responsibilities and gain valuable workplace experience while supporting the mission of Library and Tutoring Services.
