Library Facilities and Services
Library facilities at FSCJ campuses and centers provide environments that support teaching, learning, research, and collaboration. Students have access to study spaces, instructional areas, computers with internet access, wireless connectivity, and academic support services. Facilities are designed to accommodate both individual and group learning needs.
Some library locations are co-located with Faculty Resource Centers (FRCs), which provide faculty support services through other College departments.
Library collections include print materials, electronic resources, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and other instructional resources. Collections are organized using the Library of Congress Classification System.
FSCJ participates in statewide resource-sharing programs that expand access to materials available through other academic libraries. The online library catalog provides access to FSCJ collections, electronic resources, and materials available through participating libraries.
Access to online Library resources, including the library catalog, is available through FSCJ's single sign-on system.
The Library is staffed by faculty librarians who provide reference and research assistance, information literacy instruction, collection development, and outreach services. Faculty librarians collaborate with teaching faculty across the College to support curriculum needs and student learning outcomes. Library support staff provide assistance with locating materials, borrowing services, and the use of library technology.
Research and reference assistance is available both in person and online. Faculty librarians provide instruction in the effective use of library resources and research strategies. Information literacy instruction and library orientations are offered in person and online for students enrolled in face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses, as well as dual enrollment students. Instruction may be delivered synchronously through virtual meeting platforms and the College's learning management system or asynchronously through online learning resources and tutorials.
The Library also provides real-time online assistance through a variety of communication channels, including chat, text messaging, email, and other virtual support platforms.
Library services are available to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff, including those participating in online courses. Information about Library services and resources is available through the FSCJ website and the College's learning management system.
